lol I can't go and buy a core i7 and water cooling stuff without overclocking it, its a pre-requisite Smiley

Everyone seems to easily hit 4ghz, hence why all the retailers are selling the pre-overclocked setups, should be good at that for everyday use.

Well I have the basic system installed, good think too, my old Raptor hard drive gave out for good yesterday, managed to grab the data beforehand, which saves a longer download from Carbonite.

So I have it running with the stock intel cooler, and most of the bios at default except for the hard drive mode, which is set to AHCI.

What can I say, Solid state disks rock!!

11 seconds to boot windows from the last hardware screen, 34 seconds from scratch!

The system is instantly usable, so much so the windows startup sound doesn't even finish playing before I can use it LOL  Grin

Water cooling parts just arrived today, but I'll need to leave that till I have a day free to set it all up again. For now Windows 7 and Office 2010 bliss hehe. Going to go and pop steam on and see how fast my load times are now.

Just a note for your system Spider, I'm sure Scan will do it already, but if not, make sure your hard drive is in AHCI mode and download the latest Intel Rapid Storage Driver, that'll give you the best speeds by far.

 Cool Cool Cool

Water cooling installed, dropped my CPU temps by 10 Deg while idle, and 30 deg under full load Smiley sweet!

Only 56 Deg with all 4 cores max stress testing on a warm day!

My graphics card benefits the most, 50 deg temp drop idiling, it now ticks over at 33 deg, compared to 85 Smiley

All finished today, just need to close the case up now, and start the tweaking in the bios  Cool
